Don’t jump into bottomless thoughts about what is the need of a remake of ‘Kasi’ now… Coz we have the explanation.

A hit film is remade in another language usually aiming at the box-office collection. But, Chiyan Vikram’s masterpiece ‘Kasi’ is to be remade in Tamil.

Guess what the catch… It is Tamil but, Sri Lankan Tamil! Oh yeah people, the film is directed, produced by Niranjan. The man has also acted in the role enacted by Vikram. Moreover the film is titled as ‘Suriya’.

Niranjan’s bona fide name is Saravanabhavan and is a pilot by profession. As Niranjan wanted to quench his thirst on cinema he made ‘Suriya’.

“I loved the character of Vikram in ‘Kasi’. I felt that it would be great if I remake this film in Sri Lankan Tamil. So I bought the right of the film and remade under the title ‘Suriya’. I have also made a few changes to suit the nativity of Sri Lanka. The film has come out so well and will be released in Sri Lanka soon,” said Niranjan gladly.

We wonder how many Tamils are left out in the island country to enjoy this movie…
